My Tale
This is Bruno. He is one special pup. We are looking for an absolute 5 star dream for we home for this boy as he deserves the happiest life ever. He’s been through a lot in his short life. We have been fostering him since he was 8 weeks old and he is now almost 6 months. After overcoming some pretty serious health issues in the first two weeks of having him, he then suffered the collapse of two vertebrae in his neck at 10 weeks old making him almost paralysed and in extreme agony. After a long recovery and a lot of love and healing, 4 months on Bruno has been given a clean bill of health and he is ready to meet his forever people. We have been through a lot with Bruno and it would be fair to say we love him like our own, so we will be very selective where he goes. We have waited this long to get him healthy, we are happy to wait until his perfect family comes along. Bruno LOVES all dogs and people. He is super sociable and is just a happy waggy chap when we meets everyone. The main reason we feel like we can’t foster fail him (and it’s a tough call) is that our existing dog is an 8 year old grump who just hasn’t warmed to Bruno, even though Bruno loves him to bits. So if you have a fun, friendly pooch in your home already that’d be a bonus! Although Bruno’s neck has healed, it’s been recommended that he avoid rough play with big dogs so probably best if he lives with a small/medium sized dog. Due to his personality as well as his health issues and lockdown, it has meant we have spent ALOT of time together and Bruno has basically become my shadow. He loves his people and is happiest in their company so he needs to go to a home where there is someone around to hang with him (he will happily sit under your chair while you work) until you can take him for a walk! He is a medium energy dog, LOVES adventures to the park, beach, forest and adores hanging out on the farm so would ideally be best suited to a lifestyle block where he has plenty of space. I suspect he may have some collie/English Pointer/foxy in him so definitely not a couch potatoe. He has been bought up with two young kids (aged 4 and 6) whom he ADORES and will often sleep on their bed when they go to bed, but I’d prefer him to go to a family with older kids/teenagers so there are less toys for him to steal and cause chaos! He is a quirky boy who loves water! The kids can’t have a bath without Bruno joining in! He is having his first morning at doggy daycare next week which I suspect he will love, which is an option if you need to be out of the house a day or two a week. He’s not a dog who can be left home alone for hours on end. Bruno is fully toilet trained (let’s himself out of the dog flap) and has slept in his crate at night from 8 weeks. He has started sleeping on the bed lately as he’s getting a bit hot/restless in his crate, so hopefully he can find someone who is happy for doggy company at night! He know basic commands, sit, down, paw, wait, leave it, gentle, fetch, and come. His recall is excellent until there is another dog to play with…so a work in progress! Would be great if he could find a home experienced with dogs who has time to put in to developing his training. He is a clever boy who needs mental and physical stimulation as well as lots of attention. Bruno is due to be neutered on 15 November and will be available once he has recovered from this. So if you think you fit the bill and could offer this one in a million miracle pup a home with an endless supply of kongs and cow ears, please put in an application and Laura (foster mum) will give you a call to discuss! Ongoing visits and updates are a must I’m afraid! So if you’re not willing to keep in touch with play dates and catch ups ( we will happily puppy sit while you are away!) then no need to apply! Currently fostered in Orakei
