My Tale

Update:  dog has been rehomed.

This boy is an unclaimed pound dog, and he is now looking for a new home.  

We estimate his age to be around 12 months(?) as he is mature, but still has some puppy-like behaviours. He is a quiet and well-behaved boy in the pound, and spends his time playing with his chew toys or just lying on his blanket looking depressed 🙁  

He has been for a park walk with a volunteer, and loved it, but he isn’t particularly athletic, so would suit someone who enjoys moderate exercise each day, but runners and sprinters wanting an exercise companion probably aren’t suited to this boy.  He walks very well on a lead (doesn’t pull).

We have discovered that he has some fear issues with loud noises and he can be very submissive towards us at times which makes us think he may have had physical punishment during his life so far.  So he will need an understanding owner who is patient and kind, and he won’t be suited to a home with young children in the household. 

Cliff is still entire (will be desexed prior to rehoming), and some male dominance behaviours are just starting to show towards other entire male dogs, but he is very playful towards females and desexed males.  This behaviour should mellow out once he is desexed. 

Cliff appears to be a Labrador cross – other breeds in the mix unknown, but potentially some Rottweiler or Mastiff?  He is showing some guarding behaviours now that he has been here for a couple of weeks (i.e. he will occasionally bark when new vehicles drive in), but these are few and far between, and he has been friendly and easy to handle by all staff and contractors.

Cliff’s new home will need to be well fenced (1.5m minimum), and his owner must be able to provide him with quality food, parasite treatments, daily exercise and love.

Cliff will be registered with Council, microchipped, desexed and vaccinated prior to adoption (discounted fees apply). If you would like to meet Cliff, we would love to hear from you.
