My Tale
This gorgeous big boy arrived at Westley’s World on Monday 3rd of Aug 2020 and was desexed just two days later. However, Mr Romeo had a bit of a surprise in store for us ….
Before coming to WW, Romeo had been living on the streets for at least 6 months after being abandoned. A kind, concerned neighbour enclosed him on her property – after searching for his owners, to try to keep him safe from cars and predators. Sadly her existing bun didn’t appreciate the company and the pair had some very bad fights resulting in Romeo having multiple bite wounds. When he arrived he was checked over very, very carefully, his bites – which were healing well, were treated and closely monitored.
A week after he arrived a nasty surprise made itself apparent – weeks before, one of the bites had developed into a serious abscess. This had remained hidden until the infection finally came to the surface and ‘blew out’.
Romeo was booked in for surgery the very next day to remove the abscess which was actually adhered to his spine. The surgery was a long and complicated one but the abscess was successfully removed by Gabe from Newstead Vets and Romeo recovered super fast.
Once recovered, Romeo was adopted by a lovely family but sadly some accidental meetings with his potential wifeybun resulted in some fights and given his history we decided that he was better to bounce back to WW to seek a new family.
This gorgeous big boy is a really, REALLY chill, friendly dude and has come through all of the changes and challenges he has faced with flying colours. He takes everything in his stride without even bating an eyelid. He absolutely adores face and ear rubs, is calm about being handled for health checks and nail clips and is impeccable in his litter tray use.
Romeo is a an active boy who loves to to get a bit of speed up so needs masses of space to burn off energy. He is a seriously social big bun and would be ok as a solo bun as long as he lived an indoor/outdoor life with humans who are home during the day to give him the attention he adores. Through no fault of his own, his previous attempted bond did not work out but this does not mean that he is not able to be bonded in the future, as long as a careful and patient approach is taken.
Romeo is estimated to be around 2 years old, is desexed, vaccinated with Filavac and is microchipped. He is interested in children but as with most rabbits will not enjoy being, and should not be, picked up.
